April 1, 2026: Editorial Board Elections!
Hi there Hooties and Hoot Lovers,
Feeling nervous about your Bacchanal outfit? Now don’t you fear, our style guide is here! End of the semester getting to you? C’mon now, this happens every year. Is the weather making it all better, though? Yeah, as it does. Is it April fools today? Yes…. Are you pranking me right now? No. These are the important questions, but do you know what else is important? Figuring out who will run Hoot next year!
That’s right, my loves, it is time for the 2026-2027 Editorial Board Elections! The torch shall be passed to the next generation of Hoot Editorial Board members. See below for more details, answers to questions, and instructions for voting!
2026-2027 Editorial Board Elections
What are the Editorial Board positions, and who can run?
✿ Positions up for election: Editor in Chief, Editor-at-Large, Digital Director, Layout Director, Socials Director, Events Director, and Treasurer
✿ Anyone who has been a Hootie or previously been on the Editorial Board is eligible to run.
✿ All Editorial Board positions are for the entire duration of the 2026-2027 academic year.
Who is eligible to vote?
✿ Eligible voters include current students at Barnard College or Columbia University who are active E-Board Members, Hooties, those who have participated in Hoot shoots, or who have regularly attended General Body Meetings (or if you are subscribed to this newsletter).
✿ If you haven’t already, please request to join Hoot’s MillieLink roster prior to voting so you can be eligible to vote.
When is voting?
✿ Voting will open at 12 PM on April 2nd and will close on April 3rd at 12 PM. Deadline to vote is April 3rd at noon!
Who do I vote for?
✿ Every candidate carefully responded to a series of written and/or visual prompts for voters to get to know them better. This includes “What interests you about this position, and what would you hope to contribute to Hoot in this role?,” “What relevant experiences do you have, at Hoot or otherwise, that you feel prepare you for this role?,” and more!
✿ Please vote based on the answers to the written and/or visual elements that each candidate presents.
